A cauldron, table and fishing equipment among items washed up behind the war memorial

A cauldron, a wooden table and a bag of fishing tackle were among the items dumped behind a war memorial in the New Forest.

Police say they came across a fly tip behind the Canadian War Memorial near Lyndhurst on Sunday.

Officers were patrolling Forestry England grounds when they found the abandoned items.

The items include a cauldron, a large round wooden counter and a bag of fishing equipment.

They were left in a wooded area and photos showed them stacked along tree branches along with cardboard boxes and black garbage bags.

Officers are now appealing to anyone with any information in this case to come forward.

A spokesman said: “During our patrols with Forestry England today we came across this fly in the woods behind the Canadian War Memorial.

“Do you recognize him because some of them are quite distinctive?

“If you know where this came from please let us know and email [email protected].”
