I never said that MP Anar was involved in smuggling: Minister of Internal Affairs

Referring to the recent police shooting that resulted in the death of one police officer, the minister said that mental health training is being provided to police personnel to help reduce their mental stress

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today (June 11) stated that he never said that Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar was involved in smuggling.

“We never said that MP Anar was involved in smuggling,” he said while talking to the press at an event in Dhaka’s Rajarbagh on Tuesday afternoon.

Asked whether Anara’s daughter had revealed the names of any of the suspects, the minister replied: “Until the investigation is completed, no statement can be made by the minister, the IGP or the investigating officer. We will address these issues once the investigation is complete.”

Talking about the recent police shooting that resulted in the death of one police officer, the minister said that mental health training is being provided to police personnel to help reduce their mental stress.

He added that the IGP is currently working to find out the causes of the murder and is taking action to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
