The Pakistan cricket team is preparing for another close defeat to tournament hopefuls Canada tonight as their T20 World Cup campaign derails further.

The development comes after the 2022 runners-up faced hosts USA in the deciding Super Over match last week and recently suffered a recent six-run defeat to India.

In the Super Over played by Mohammad Amir, the Americans scored 18 runs, eight of which came from extras. American Saurabh Netravalkar then kept his cool and bowled brilliantly, giving away just 13 runs to secure a famous win.

With the focus now on Canada getting the job done on the cheap tonight, Pakistani media spokesman Monty Woolnorth said the team was looking forward to putting their previous performance behind them and working to salvage their position in the group.

“We’re almost there, the guys are sure of it,” Woolnorth said this morning local time.

“The final will end with a few no-balls and maybe even four wides that come from a fierce but ultimately poorly executed goalkeeper. “We will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory”

“We will do it in a way that will not arouse suspicion. We won’t make Michael Holding cry this time. Losing a close game is what we do best.”

Advocate reached out to Canada Cricket for comment, but a coach/physiotherapist/media spokesperson was not available at this time.

More to come.
