Cattle theft worries Samar Dalani. Residents are calling on the authorities to tackle the growing menace of cow smuggling

JAMUGURIHAT: A total of two heads of cattle of Manbir Biswakarma, resident of Lakhangarh, Samar Dalani of Sootea police station were stolen from his cowshed on Sunday evening. The homeowner reportedly inspected his barn around 11:30 p.m. and found the animals safe. However, after some time he found that his barn was empty and two cows had been stolen. He immediately notified the local VDP secretary and Sootea police.

It is worth mentioning here that cow smuggling is on the rise in Naduar district. Sonitpur police in collaboration with Jamuguri police arrested a cow smuggling gang from Jamugurihat west a month ago. Questionable and fast vehicles drove through the villages at night. The residents humbly appealed to the civil authorities and the police to deal with the matter as soon as possible. Many villages started patrolling at night to protect their villages.
