Devon Marsman’s disappearance is suspicious: Halifax police

Seven months after he was reported missing, Halifax police say the disappearance of a 16-year-old boy is considered suspicious.

Devon Sinclair Marsman was last questioned on February 21 and was reported missing to police on March 4.

Halifax Regional Police initially said they had no reason to suspect the teenager’s disappearance was crime-related.

However, in a news release Wednesday, police said they currently consider Marsman’s disappearance suspicious and there are people with information about the missing teenager who have not spoken to investigators.

“Obviously at this point we truly believe his disappearance is suspicious and we truly believe there are people with information that has not been passed on to police,” Halifax Regional Police Chief said. John Macleod.

“I feel like they know he didn’t go missing of his own accord. That something happened to him and someone is covering it up,” said Theresa Gray, Marsman’s mother.

In March, Gray told CTV News that text messages to her son went unanswered and there was no activity on his social media accounts.

Now he hopes someone will come forward with information.

“I’ve been praying that I would find him long before this, and now it’s been seven months and there’s still no answer, but people definitely need someone to give me a clue,” Gray said.

In May, friends, family and strangers gathered in Spryfield to search for Marsman. Gray told CTV News at the time that he was last seen with his older cousin.

In June, a candlelight vigil was held in Halifax to mark 100 days since the teenager’s disappearance.

Marsman is described as African Nova Scotian, with blue-green eyes and short, dark hair. He is approximately five feet tall and weighs 100 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a hoodie and jeans.

Investigators are urging Marsman or anyone with information on his whereabouts to call police at 902-490-5020.

The family has offered a $10,000 reward for anyone who finds Marsman.
