The candidate is unfairly excluded from participating in the “predetermined” elections at the University of Elbasan

Former prefect of Elbasan, Majlinda Perriu, complained on Fiks Fare that she was unfairly excluded from the race for the position of rector of the Aleksandër Xhuvani University in Elbasan in central Albania.

“I ran for the position of university rector, following all legal procedures, but I was expelled from the Institutional Electoral Commission on the grounds that the law did not allow me to do so when I was a prefect, and my term ended on May 24. Meanwhile, the commission decided to expel me on May 26, two days after I stopped being prefect,” says Perriu.

Although this committee excluded her in violation of the law, Ms. Perriu filed an official complaint with the Appeals Committee, which should decide whether the former prefect should take part in the elections or not.

However, surprisingly, according to Ms Perriu, the head of the appeal committee resigned on the day the decision was due, so no decision was taken.

The journalists asked the parish priest and members of the commission that expelled Perriu and which should consider her complaint.

The rector refused to provide any answer to journalists, and two members of the appeal committee, Ardita Dylgjeri and Zyra Gripshi, admitted that they had not met within 5 working days to consider the candidate’s complaint.

However, the former prefect’s claims were justified by a telephone conversation between journalists and a member of the Institutional Electoral Commission, Mustafa Kadzadej, who voted to exclude Ms. Perriu from the race.

He explained that the law was interpreted by the university’s law firm, and therefore the law firm decided to exclude her candidacy.

Thus, the committee decided what the rectorate ordered regarding exclusion from the competition and failure to accept Mrs. Perriu’s complaint.
