“We have a responsibility, Terry,” Pelosi can be heard telling her chief of staff, Terri McCullough, as they are taken away from the Capitol in a vehicle. “We took no responsibility for what happened there, but we should have. This is ridiculous.”

Pelosi then appeared to scold McCullough for asking her amidst the chaos whether they should call in the National Guard.

“You ask me in the middle of the party, after the inaugural rules have already been violated, ‘should we call the Capitol Police?’ I mean the National Guard. Why wasn’t the National Guard there from the beginning?” – said the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

McCullough explains that they “thought they had enough resources,” which does not satisfy the California Democrat.

“It’s not a matter of how they… they don’t know! They obviously didn’t know, and I take responsibility for not asking them to prepare for more,” Pelosi said.

According to Politico, the exchange was part of about 45 minutes of footage recently provided to the GOP-controlled subcommittee that oversees the House Administration.

A report on the riots authored by House Republicans in 2022 found that Democratic leaders had concerns about the “optics” of the presence of National Guard troops at the Capitol following the “Black Lives Matter” protests in the summer of 2020.

“Multiple independent fact-checkers have confirmed that Speaker Pelosi did not plan her own assassination,” wrote Aaron Bennett on X. “The out-of-context clips selected do not change that.”

“Three years later, House Republicans are still trying to whitewash January 6,” he added. “It’s shameful, unpatriotic and pathetic.”
