Bowman Slams Haley for Writing ‘Finish’ on Israeli Bomb: ‘Disgusting’

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday lashed out at former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, calling her a “disgusting human being” after she was photographed writing “Finish them” on an Israeli bomb during a visit to the country.

The message on the shell, photographed and celebrated by former Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, read: “Finish them off! America (heart) Israel always, Nikki Haley.”

Bowman sharply criticized Haley for the comments in the CNN interview, which came after growing criticism of Israel’s actions in Rafah after a weekend airstrike killed more than 45 people.

“Nikki Haley is disgusting. He’s a disgusting person to do something like that,” he told CNN’s Abby Phillip. “This is genocidal language and it is turning the American people against our government.”

“Why do we continue to support not only consistent attacks in Gaza but also endless wars?” Bowman continued. “There are people in our country, their whole lives, including mine, it seems like we are in a constant state of war with someone who is spending trillions, killing millions, while people are suffering, starving and dying here in our country.”

The progressive congressman also directed his criticism at President Biden for continuing to support Israel despite the rapidly rising civilian death toll in the conflict and war crimes allegations against the Israeli military.

Last week, the UN-backed International Court of Justice ordered Israel to halt its operations in Rafah because of the impact on civilians. The court is also overseeing a case declaring the conflict a genocide.

“American weapons are burning little children alive, so he must respond,” Bowman urged Biden. “We cannot send another weapon or another dollar to Israel and (Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu at this point because they have advanced in what the ICJ has called credible genocide and everyone can see it. My district sees it, the whole country sees it.

Bowman is facing a tough primary in his district, and the war between Israel and Hamas is in the spotlight after he openly called for a ceasefire in the conflict. His opponent, Westchester County Executive George Latimer, was a strong supporter of Israel and received support from AIPAC, a pro-Israel lobbying group.
