Netflix now describes Arcane’s second season as its “final chapter”

UPDATE 17:45 Great Britain: Arcane may end with a second season, but Riot Games has more projects planned in collaboration with talented animation studio Fortiche, the developer has now said.

“Arcane is just the beginning of our broader storytelling journey and our collaboration with the great animation studio that is Fortiche,” said co-creator Christian Linke in a new developer update video. “From the very beginning, ever since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means that Arcane’s story ends with season two.

“But Arcane is just the first of many stories we want to tell in Runeterra. Riot and I have gone through Vi and Jinx’s entire journey so far, from becoming heroes in the game, to characters in various films, to main characters in the TV series. show Their plots have exceeded our original dreams and we want to provide the same treatment to more characters.

“We are currently working on our next TV and film projects and hope to have more information available before the end of the year. We’re still in the early stages and these things are really taking a long time, but we want to share updates with you whenever we can. “

ORIGINAL STORY 16:45 Great Britain: You wait for years for a new season of your favorite series, and then you find out that it’s over. Today’s action-packed trailer for Arcane’s second season, in what appears to be classic Netflix fashion, describes the show’s long-awaited second batch of episodes as “The Final Chapter.”

Which, considering it’s probably the best video game adaptation of all time and just an amazing TV show in general, is pretty bad news.

Spoilers abound for the show’s first season, as the trailer seems to answer what happened next after the first season’s explosive ending.

Some (but obviously not all) characters from the first season are present. Here’s our best look at Arcane’s second season. It looks great! But damn, finding out that these episodes probably end Arcane’s story is a huge shame.

The first nine-episode season of Arcane debuted on Netflix in 2021. The work took six years and was praised by fans of the League of Legends source materials and newcomers alike. The film was also critically acclaimed and won this year’s Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.

Work on the upcoming second season of the series took another three years, and it was expected that its story would continue. There’s still the possibility of another Arcane-style series set elsewhere in its universe, but fans should now apparently prepare for the series’ overall finale when new episodes arrive in November.
