2024 NBA Mock Draft: Top 30 Picks Debate, Needs and First Round Value

Our usual NBA simulations rely heavily on information to make projections for players and all 30 teams. It’s not that. Instead, ESPN draft analysts Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo explored the first round from two different angles: selecting based on team needs and drafting the best available.

Of course, the philosophical question of writing for need or value is unclear. In reality, they work together; situational factors from team to team can lead to drastically different evaluations of each prospect. So, when both lines of thought lead to the same answer, it’s generally a good sign.

This mock draft isn’t what we predict every NBA team will do, but it’s a useful way to think about the 2024 NBA Draft, its eligible players, and how front offices might think about it as we go. as the two-day event draws closer (June 26-27, on ABC/ESPN/ESPN+).

Givony drafted players for each team by prioritizing need, while Woo selected players paired with teams looking for value. Here is what happened :
