Shillong, Jun 11 (PTI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for allowing over Rs 1,000 crore to be released to the state under tax devolution for the month of June.

“I want to thank the Government of India, especially the Prime Minister and Finance Minister for approving tax devolution yesterday,” Sangma said in a video message.

The Center on Monday approved tax devolution of Rs 1,39,750 crore to states for June.

It was decided that in addition to the regular publication of the decentralization amount for June, one additional installment would be paid – the Ministry of Finance said in a press release.

In another post on X Sangma, she wrote, “We express our gratitude to @FinMinIndia for providing an additional devolution tranche of Rs 536 crore to Meghalaya with a total value of Rs 1,072.90 crore for the month of June. This additional money will enable the state to accelerate ongoing development projects.”
